Woven: A Closing Ceremony

This ceremony has as many names as the cultures that have used it… “sealing ceremony”, “closing of the bones”, the “seven locks” to name a few. This deeply nourishing ceremony uses woven cloth to support your body, mind and spirit. It is a ritual offered to help you integrate any experience of significant change, where an ending is also a beginning. There are many different transitions in life which benefit from intentional honoring:

o   Postpartum: This ceremony has been traditionally used in the postpartum period following any type of birth. It would traditionally be used multiple times in the weeks following birth. In our modern culture, even experiencing this ceremony just once at six week postpartum is of great value for the Mother. It could be used at six days, six months, six years, or decades to support postpartum healing. The crossing of the great threshold to Motherhood is significant, and this ceremony recognizes it as such.

o   Change & Loss: This ceremony can support you when there is a shift in a relationship, changing career path, leaving a home, or any change you are noticing that is calling for honoring. Some of life’s biggest changes surround the death of a loved one. Grief touches every element of life. This ceremony is profound and designed to hold all the feelings that come when something or someone has crossed a threshold and you feel a sense of loss.
